Youth Education Program (YEP!)
YEP! provides youth from newcomer communities with the skills and resources they need to thrive. Our programs are for grades K-12 and beyond in the Kent School District and include elementary reading support, high school homework support, enrichment, graduation support, and college access, and scholarship and financial aid application support.
Refugee and Immigrant Youth Advisory Council (RIYAC)
YEP! students also steer the Refugee and Immigrant Youth Advisory Council (RIYAC), a council of youth who use advocacy to address community challenges, promote systems change, which informs CRB’s work.
In RIYAC, youth council members will work together to advise Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and government agencies in South King County on the greatest challenges facing their communities and ideas for sustainable solutions to these challenges. The on-going process of the youth leadership and civic engagement pipeline is the implementation of community driven projects to address key challenges facing immigrant, refugee, and communities of color in South King County.
